CSTO: Armenia has not participated in secretariat’s work recently

March 28
Recently Armenia has not participated in the work of the secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), but the secretariat has not received any official statements from Yerevan about the suspension of membership, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov said in an interview with the National Defense magazine (via RIA Novosti). The CSTO currently includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. “Yerevan has indeed not recently participated in the work of the CSTO secretariat. This is Armenia’s decision at this stage, and we, as an international organization, respect any decision of a sovereign state,” Tasmagambetov said. “However, the activities of the Organization continue in full force, all procedures are observed in full compliance with the regulatory framework of the CSTO. The secretariat informs in Yerevan on a regular basis about the decisions taken. Regarding statements by officials of the Republic of Armenia, I note that the secretariat from Yerevan has not received any official statements about the suspension of membership in the CSTO.”
